Dead Horse Ranch State Park

I’m staying at this small state park in Arizona and I absolutely love this place. It’s a small park consisting of about 420 acres and became a state park in 1973. I’m not sure I can explain why I like this park so much. It feels like a perfect transition from northern Arizona to the “valley” where I’m spending winter. The weather is perfect with lows in the 40s and highs in the 70s this week. I wish a place existed with temperatures like this year around, I would live there. I don’t come here to take photographs of wildlife. I come here to relax.

These mesquite trees give the area a spooky feeling, perfect for October. It’s close to Sedona and other outdoor opportunities. For example, I visited Tuzigoot National Monument yesterday. It’s just an outdoor nerds dream location. This is a location I expect to continue to visit.
